Kyung-Shik (Kevin) Shin is Managing Partner at HwaHyun and Chair of the firm’s Criminal Defense Litigation Group. In addition to leading the criminal litigation practice, he advises our corporate clients on crisis management strategies and criminal and regulatory compliance matters.
He spent 27 years in public service from as a public prosecutor at the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office in 1988 until resigning as Chief Prosecutor of the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office in 2015. With his expertise as a prosecutor of crimes related to corporation, real estate, finance, fair trade, tax, and foreign exchange, he was also in charge of the following tasks at the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office: extradition, international mutual assistance in criminal matters, transfer of prisoners, amendment to various criminal and procedural laws and regulations, introduction of a jury system, and amendment to the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between Korea and the U.S.
